There are many stellar upscale cocktail bars in Nashville. But for a non-touristy, old-school bar where you can actually get good drinks? You want Lakeside Lounge. Mix their Attaboy-owned pedigree and Edgefield Sports Bar history and you get the best of both worlds. The last time I was there, I had a tasty frozen drink (Penichillin: scotch, ginger, lemon, honey), played darts, simultaneously watched Terminator 2 and the Westminster Dog Show, ate cheese fries, and argued with a bartender about Nicolas Cage’s best movie. (It’s The Rock and nobody can tell me otherwise.) It’s a chill place, literally and figuratively, and the fact that they put an “XPRESSO” martini on their menu? Icing on the mispronunciation cake.
