If you had told me 15 years ago that the “Ghost With a Boner” band would headline the Ryman someday, I never would’ve believed you. And yet in June, Diarrhea Planet made its triumphant return to two big stages: a late-night tent show at Bonnaroo, for which they warmed up with a blowout at the hallowed halls of the Ryman. DP playing the Mother Church wasn’t just a fun hang, it was a watershed moment for local punk — the first time a band from the underground clawed its way onto the most venerated historic stage in town as a headliner and shook it to the ground.
