In the wake of pandemic lockdown, it’s heartening to see a renewal of energy in building communities for experimental, experiential music. Pulled From the Sky, an occasional event series spearheaded by Louisiana-born musician Caleb Breaux (who records and performs as Brainweight), aims to be a space for musicians who don’t necessarily always do improvisational music to explore that realm with an audience. That might mean performances on drums and hammer dulcimer (sometimes simultaneously), electronic wind instruments and modular synthesizers all on the same evening — with a crowd that’s deeply supportive and appreciative.
