Middle Tennesseans (and folks on Instagram and X, formerly Twitter) have known about Daisha McBride’s strengths — including ferocious and insightful rhymes and incredible stage presence — for a long time. Idil Ibrahim’s half-hour documentary “In Her Element,” which aired on BET in February as part of Queen Latifah’s Queen Collective series, spread the word with style and grace. It’s a superb showcase for McBride’s talents and gives her the space to tell her story in more depth than you can get from social media alone.
