Robin Eaton has been a fixture on the Nashville pop and rock scene for more than three decades as a successful producer, songwriter and studio owner, but in all that time, he had never released an album under his own name. That is, until earlier this year when he dropped Memories of a Misspent Youth. Eaton shines as the primary writer, vocalist and guitarist on the 11 tracks that encompass a range of rock styles, from ringing folk-rock to harder-edged and more progressive arrangements. Lyrically, the record is a navigation into past loves and past highs and lows filled with “too many drugs and too much sex” that deftly reflects the inherent humor and sadness through the lens of 20/20 hindsight.
