Indie rocker Annie DiRusso challenges unrealistic male-centric notions of beauty and more with a mix of defiance, humor and vulnerability on her daring debut EP God, I Hate This Place. Against a background of distorted guitars, the five songs loosely chronicle a psychologically abusive relationship DiRusso was in and the ensuing breakup. In many ways, the EP is her personal declaration of independence, saying things throughout the record she is afraid to say out loud. It also serves notice that DiRusso is a young artist with great potential.
