Any local punk worth their salt has definitely caught Soot or Waxed at a hardcore show in the past eight-ish years. Despite longtime participation in the local thrash-metal scene, both groups only just released their first albums in 2022: Soot’s Talons of Empathy and Waxed’s Give Up. As a follow-up, the two groups journeyed together to a farm in Kentucky and spent the weekend recording their four-song split. Featuring an Uncle Kracker cover and three new originals, the release is 15 minutes of gleeful and ripping energy that damn near capture the excitement and fury of their live performances.Â
