Domestic Bliss is about as apt a title as you can get for the self-titled debut from longtime musicians and recently married couple Lilly Hiatt and Coley Hinson. It’s a thoughtful, organic and fun-as-hell blend of their various folk, soul and psych influences that doesn’t sound exactly like any of their previous individual work. There are love songs, there are songs about things not working out like you’d want, and there’s a poignant and subtle closer, “When All of Your Heroes Are Dead,” a reflection on some internal conflicts that finding your partner for life might not resolve — though it sure helps.
