Peter One’s Come Back to Me combines airy grooves with the veteran folk-rock singer’s subtle vocal style, and the result is an album that stands with classic ’60s and ’70s albums by, say, Simon & Garfunkel and Don Williams. Peter One was born in Ivory Coast in 1956 and moved to Nashville in 1995 after a successful career in the West African music scene. Come Back to Me sports an ensemble of Nashville and Memphis musicians who play impeccably. It’s an album of understated elegance and hard-won insights into the human condition.
