Best Long Goodbye in Nashville 2026: Margot Café & Bar

When Margot McCormack announced in November 2025 that she would be closing her eponymous, beloved East Nashville restaurant on its 25th anniversary, June 5, 2026, seemed so far away. The very deliberate decision made with her wife Heather Parsons-McCormack gave the staff time to make plans for their future, and the neighborhood and devoted clientele to choose how and when to say goodbye. In that seven-month stretch, there were last birthday celebrations, last anniversary dinners, last holiday meals, last winter/spring/early-summer vegetables from local farmers, last house-made potato chips, last glasses of wine, last French 75s, last brunches, last Julia Child menus, last big smiles and waves from chef Hadley Long in the open kitchen — and finally but way too soon, the simultaneously sad and celebratory last supper on June 5. Tears were shed, glasses clinked, stories told, photos taken, hugs exchanged, hearts were full.

Past Best of Nashville wins: In our Writers’ Choice, Margot Café & Bar has also been named Best Service Staff (2025).
