Best Seafood in Nashville 2026: Henrietta Red

In late 2024, accomplished Nashville chef Julia Sullivan took a risk by opening Judith Tavern roughly an hour-and-a-half southeast of Nashville in Sewanee. Judith quickly gathered acclaim, but there’s good news for Nashvillians who haven’t made or aren’t able to make the trek to Judith yet: Sullivan’s first restaurant, the excellent Henrietta Red in Nashville’s Germantown neighborhood, has remained a top-tier dining option here in Music City. Henrietta Red does a lot of things well — cocktails, dessert, brunch — but perhaps the biggest and best draw is its seafood. In addition to a raw-bar menu that offers a regularly rotating lineup of oysters, Henrietta puts fresh, creatively prepared seafood dishes on its dinner menu. During a recent visit, I had a knockout grilled octopus, as well as a piquant red snapper crudo that was among the best and most singular crudo dishes I’ve ever tasted.

Past Best of Nashville wins: Henrietta Red also took Best Seafood in the Readers' Poll in 2020 and 2019.
