Best Groundbreaking New York Deli in Nashville 2026: Noshville

When Tom Loventhal opened Noshville in Midtown in 1996, every Jew in town immediately got the pun. In Yiddish, to nosh is to snack, though this “authentic New York-style delicatessen,” as it was introduced and branded, went far beyond that. Bagels and lox, matzah brei, smoked fish platters, griddle cakes and ginormous omelets for breakfast; deli meat sandwiches on rye or pumpernickel (if you must, wheat or sourdough), Reubens, club sandwiches, beef hot dogs, tuna melts and, of course, matzah ball soup. The Green Hills outpost, the last of the Noshville locations, will close in summer 2027, having cured at least 1 million colds with its famous chicken soup, and fed Noshville regular Vince Gill breakfast for more than three decades.
