For most musicians, releasing one new song every week for a year sounds like a recipe for disaster. But more than 40 weeks in, ace rapper Petty’s #53 Fridays project is still appointment listening. He’s collaborated with a who’s-who of local producers and MCs for a collection of tracks that tell stories about being Black and being a rapper in Nashville, cover a ton of ground stylistically and always put Petty’s voice as a storyteller front and center.
