Choreographer Banning Bouldin wanted her dance collective New Dialect to make a big impression at TPAC last season, so she created a memorable new dance called HEAP. The work’s title refers to the set, literally a heap of clothes, with shirts and jackets representing the social norms and stereotypes that the dancers try on and cast off. The work was danced to composer Cristina Spinei’s original score, which was performed by Nashville’s indie classical ensemble Sound Riot. JOHN PITCHER
