There’s something to be said about the talent — and patience — of a community that can spin six hours of Baroque performance into a local tradition. Each March for the past 11 years and counting, BACHanalia has rallied local and regional players of all stripes for a birthday dedication to J.S. Bach’s extensive, epochal and delightful catalog, in an event that’s free and open to the public. It’s tough to imagine a better way to celebrate the massive influence of the baroque master — unless you wanna try blowing out 300 candles on a cake. MATT FOX
