Utter the phrase “contemporary classical music,” and the sound of chainsaws often comes to mind. New music has a fearsome reputation, something the Nashville contemporary group Intersection addresses in its popular family series. In February, Intersection presented a program called Dragon Harmony that focused on contemporary Chinese art music. Internationally renowned composers Chen Yi and Zhou Long joined Nashville guzheng virtuoso Wu Fei for a concert that explored the exotic sounds of traditional Chinese instruments.
