At the terminal point of 51st Avenue North, 91-year-old Lee Estes stands as a 200-foot-tall tribute to The Nations, the neighborhood he’s called home since the late 1920s. Painted on an abandoned silo by Australian muralist Guido van Helten as part of the Nashville Walls Project, the mural is striking — a symbol of the roots of a city that is rapidly evolving. Not only is it an astounding work of art, it’s a rare mural in this city that doesn’t just say “Nashville,” but rather is Nashville. LANCE CONZETT
