While the number of vegetarian-friendly restaurants in Nashville has continued to increase in over the years — there’s Avo, Sunflower Cafe, Woodlands, Vanderbilt’s Grins Vegetarian Cafe, and Graze (see “Best Vegan Junk Food”) — East Nashville’s Wild Cow still does it best. Their menu is packed with reliable, affordable wraps, tacos, salads and fat sandwiches, including the French Quarter dip, a faux-roast beef sandwich made with Be Hive seitan, marinated mushrooms and onions and Swiss cheese (or vegan mozzarella, if you’d rather). And of course it comes with au jus for dipping. I wouldn’t dare suggest you won’t miss the meat, because, well, some meat eaters really, really love meat, but at the very least, you might finally be able to muster some respect for those who choose to live without it.
