Best Popcorn

There are a lot of things I missed about The Belcourt during its seven months under the knife: exquisite independent film programming, sprawling post-movie debrief sessions in the lobby, the psychedelic midnight movie pre-shows courtesy of film editor Zack Hall. But that popcorn, though. In the 10 minutes between sitting down at the new Belcourt and the start of the silent classic The Freshman, I had managed to jam half-a-bucket of the theater’s perfectly popped confection down my throat. I suppose that old cliché is right: Absence does make the heart (and stomach) grow fonder. LANCE CONZETT
