What’s great news for the Gulch is sad news for East Nashville: Sarah and Brad Gavigan are relocating their delightful restaurant Little Octopus from its current digs at POP, their event and pop-up space on Gallatin Road, to the former home of Ru San’s in the Gulch. East Nashvillians have only themselves to blame — Sarah Gavigan says most of the clientele comes from the other side of the Cumberland. Gulchers should be especially thrilled to know that executive chef Daniel Herget will be coming along for the move: His pan-roasted chicken with salsa verde is astoundingly good, and the farro with wood ear mushrooms, pine nuts, black garlic and fermented scallion may just be the best vegetarian dish in the city. Easties, take note: Little Octopus will continue to serve dinner at its current location from 6 to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday through the fall. JACK SILVERMAN
