With the help of consulting curator María Magdalena Campos-Pons, the ambitious statewide Tennessee Triennial for Contemporary Art became a monumental event. From Jan. 27 through May 7, Tennessee’s four largest cities — Nashville, Memphis, Knoxville and Chattanooga — hosted contemporary art events and exhibitions organized around the theme “Re-Pair.” The event was organized by Tri-Star Arts, and pushed forward an idea that Campos-Pons raised in an interview earlier this year: “Painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, photography, performance art are what constitutes the fabric and the skin of the city.”
