Humanities Tennessee — our state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities — has been putting on quite the block party for going on 35 years with the Southern Festival of Books. With author talks and book signings, live music and a smorgasbord of Tennessee literary groups in attendance, it’s the perfect way to stack your TBR pile high and make new friends. The 2022 fest featured bigwigs, emerging talents and fan favorites — like Imani Perry, Patrick Raden Keefe, Tara Stringfellow, Peng Shepherd, Margo Price, Isaac Fitzgerald and many, many more. I can’t wait till this year’s event — it’s happening Oct. 20 through 22 (wink wink).
