There was definitely a chill in the air last November as audiences arrived at the historic Belmont Mansion to see David Alford in A Holiday to Remember. But this delightful recitation of two of Truman Capote’s most beloved short stories (“The Thanksgiving Visitor” and “A Christmas Memory”) soon warmed all our hearts. It was wonderful to see Alford back onstage, with stories underscored by live original music from Paul Carrol Binkley. Once an annual favorite at the Rep, this tender piece still has the power to move us — evoking holidays of long ago, while honoring Nashville’s theatrical roots.
