In a season packed with classics, Nashville Opera treated audiences to a most unusual work — Stuck Elevator. Inspired by an actual incident in which an undocumented Chinese food delivery man was trapped in an elevator for 81 hours, the piece incorporates a wide range of musical influences — from rap and pop to classical and even elements of modern dissonance. It was a wild ride to be sure, but artistic director John Hoomes — together with an incredible, internationally acclaimed cast — never let us lose sight of the story’s emotional truth and humanity.
