For a few weeks a year, the halls of the Belcourt Theatre fill up with a different kind of crowd — groups of vibrant, giggling teenage girls. The Strong Leads program brings girls from local high schools together to view and discuss films directed by and starring women. Films made by female directors are still a box-office minority, and Strong Leads helps connect the creative minds of tomorrow with stories and creators they can relate to. Open to girls of all identities, Strong Leads creates a necessary haven for open expression and creativity for the brightest minds.
