In April, hometown hero Nate Bargatze set an attendance record at Bridgestone Arena, bringing a reported audience of 19,365 to our neighborhood enormodome. The show arrived on the heels of the Old Hickory native’s Hello World, an hourlong Amazon Prime comedy special full of Bargatze’s deadpan delivery and clean, relatable material — jokes that are somehow infinitely more hilarious than the sum of their parts. It’s been an absolute delight watching the Donelson Christian Academy alum rise from friendly local stand-up to nationally recognized comedian, and so we’re happy to bestow him with this year’s honors as Nashville’s Best Comedian.
