Lindsay Lynch is the book buyer for Parnassus Books. You may be thinking, “What an advantage for an author!” Counterpoint: Your job is to know how many of each book sells in your store and what kind of books your customers buy. Can you imagine still deciding to write a book under those conditions? I cannot. My anxiety wouldn’t let me. Luckily for us, Lynch did write a book, and it’s fantastic. Her debut novel Do Tell is about the Golden Age of Hollywood, gossip columnists, bad behavior covered up by powerful studios and a glimpse of what queerness looked like back then.
