For a debut exhibition, Sai Clayton’s Hāfu was astoundingly taut. Conceptually ambitious but still specific to Clayton’s personal vision, the Random Sample show included paintings, textiles, woodblock prints and even an artist’s book, and was unlike anything else I saw in 2023. Clayton is one to watch.
