Best Group Exhibition in Nashville 2026: 'In Her Place: Nashville Artists in the Twenty-First Century' at the Frist Art Museum
In Her Place was a truly outstanding exhibition of some of the best artists in Nashville’s history, with heavy hitters and early game changers positioned alongside the next generation, many of whom are our friends and neighbors. I loved how enormous a lot of the work was — great big art made in a city where great big studios were, for a time, affordable. And the flow from one room to another was a real joy — like that great moment when Mandy Rogers Horton’s blue gravel lot led straight up to Emily Weiner’s twilight cathedral. Bittersweet and stunning.
