Best Panel Discussion in Nashville 2026: Nonfiction Writing in a Fiction-Filled World at Duckbill Bookshop
The thing that makes an indie bookstore great is how it serves the community. When Madison Knowe opened Duckbill Bookshop in Old Hickory, she wanted to build a place for her friends and neighbors to hang out, buy books and connect with one another. One of the best author events I attended this year was Duckbill’s June panel Nonfiction Writing in a Fiction-Filled World, which featured writers Becca Andrews, Jordan Ritter Conn and Steven Hale. Knowe moderated the event as the three friends and journos talked about empathy, vulnerability and the importance of doing things in person. I left feeling buoyed. Whatever events Knowe has up her sleeve next, I’ll be there.
