Best Photography Installation in Nashville 2026: Sandra Ventura-Benitez at Doña María’s Super Mercado and Caroline Allison at Neuhoff (Tie)
The year’s coolest photography installations couldn’t have been more different — a testament to the dynamic, multifaceted arts community. With help from Ruby Alas-Cruz of South Nashville shop Sueños Buenos, Sandra Ventura-Benitez’s portraits of local kids looked like they were part of a high-end magazine editorial about street culture in South Nashville. But once they were enlarged and hung inside neighborhood supermarket Doña María’s Super Mercado, the work became instantly iconic. And Caroline Allison’s graceful, sculptural exhibition Remembrance of Things Once Held masterfully utilized the architecture of its setting inside the Killing Room of the Neuhoff District’s onetime meatpacking plant. You couldn’t imagine a better representation of what Nashville photographers are capable of.
