Best Belcourt Staff Pick in Nashville 2026: 'Private Parts'

To the people lamenting the loss of “Old Nashville,” I ask: Are you not going to the Belcourt? I have a Howard Stern fixation, which led me to the Belcourt for a screening of Private Parts. I was greeted outside by a cloud of cigarette smoke, singer-songwriter Lilly Hiatt and two women from Whites Creek. I didn’t peg Hiatt as a Stern-head, but she told me her husband — Belcourt employee Coley Hinson — chose the film as his Staff Pick. The women from Whites Creek were his mom and her friend, and they were there to support him as he introduced the film — while in costume as Howard Stern. We stood around after the movie — them smoking, me coughing — talking about Stern and living in the country, making plans to meet for dinner soon. It was a night that happened in 2026, but could have happened in 2009.
