As one of rock’s great lyricists, British rocker Robyn Hitchcock has long proven that he has a way with words. More recently with a pair of autobiographies and a Substack publication, Hitchcock has demonstrated he also has a gift for prose. In Stranded in the Future, his most recent in a planned series of autobiographical works, Hitchcock remembers the 1970s when he formed the band The Soft Boys with Kimberley Rew. It’s a delightful, engaging read that covers not only his emergence as a singer-songwriter, but also one of his primary musical influences — the reclusive Syd Barrett.
