Five months after the 50th anniversary of Frampton Comes Alive — the album that made guitarist Peter Frampton a superstar — the documentary Frampton premiered in June at New York’s Tribeca Film Festival. Directed by his bandleader Rob Arthur, it’s an enthralling career retrospective that chronicles Frampton’s rise to the top of the music world, his fall from there triggered by his manager’s embezzlement of his fortune and his struggles with substance abuse — plus his comeback and subsequent move to Nashville, and his battles with inclusion body myositis. The documentary made its local debut in September at the Nashville Film Festival.
