Juneteenth is an essential American holiday, but in a calendar full of traditions that seem to have been around since time immemorial, it’s easy for the newer ones to get crowded out. Thank God for Big Fella, who has been using his outsized charisma to make Juneteenth the business of every self-respecting Nashvillian, regardless of how long it’s been an official federal holiday. This year’s celebration was especially exciting, and took place at Centennial Park for the first time in its history.
