Best Dessert

Before Levon Wallace took his leave to become Strategic Hospitality’s culinary czar, he gave Nashville one perfect dessert: Gray & Dudley’s warm chocolate chip cookies. Baked to order in individual cast-iron skillets, they come out crisp on the bottom, melty in the middle, and topped with crunchy flakes of sea salt. If you, like me, spent much of the ’80s trying desperately to make snow ice cream out of Tennessee’s annual inch of snowfall, you must treat your inner child to Gray & Dudley’s sweet, creamy “ice milk.” It’s like eating dessert inside a damn snow globe.
