Country and Western music is one of Nashville’s richest and most obvious traditions. However, aside from a few OG joints on Lower Broad, there are actually very few places around Nashville to witness authentic country music. Enter East Nashville’s Americana mecca, The 5 Spot, which keeps it real the second Wednesday of every month with an all-star house band and a revolving door of local luminaries like Derek Hoke, Caitlin Rose and Courtney Jaye, who keep Nashville’s twangy traditions alive and well. Honorable mentions, however, definitely go to The Stone Fox’s Country Sundays and Greg Garing’s ongoing Hipster Apocalypse residency at Logue’s Black Raven Emporium.
