Put four local rock dudes — No Regrets Coyote’s Ian Bush, Chrome Pony’s John Gottschalk, Blank Range’s Grant Gustafson and JEFF the Brotherhood’s Chet Jameson — in “a perfectly worn, badass black leather jacket” of a studio, give ’em 24 hours to make an EP from scratch, and you get FIST, one of the best proto-metal outfits to exist for any length of time. Credit the folks at 24HR Records — who do this sort of thing regularly — for picking players who know how to listen and not overthink the tasty riffage.
