Starting somewhere around this year’s Tour de Fun, fledgling watering hole The Crying Wolf — in the building that once housed the cursed French Quarter Cafe — began turning its spacious parking lot into an open-air party scene. They soon covered the concrete with artificial turf and installed a couple of pop-up pools, a full-scale water slide and an outdoor bar to create “Splashville.” The all-day Sunday celebrations, which went down a handful of times over the summer, regularly feature left-of-dial local acts like Churchyard and Terror Pigeon, DJs and a mob of local party people getting wet and wild.
