Even in a city brimming with great instrumentalists, Nashville native Roger Wiesmeyer stands out. He’s surely one of the most versatile virtuosos found anywhere. As principal English horn player for the Nashville Symphony Orchestra, Wiesmeyer has proven to be a master of the long, lyrical line. He’s also a polished pianist who can play Mozart piano concertos with the best of them. But what really distinguishes Wiesmeyer is his omnipresence — in short, he’s the hardest working classical musician in Nashville. When he’s not playing luminous solos with the Nashville Symphony, you can find him performing oboe with the Alias Chamber Ensemble, soloing in a piano concerto with his own annual Mozart Birthday Orchestra at Edgewood United Methodist Church or recording critically acclaimed albums with the Gateway Chamber Orchestra. Over the years, Wiesmeyer has also been a tireless philanthropist who often performs for charities. That makes him a musician for all seasons.
