On April 1, the Scene’s own Adam Gold filed a report on our music blog, Nashville Cream, that Nashville’s famed Bluebird Cafe would be closing only to reopen as another link in Jimmy Buffett’s Cheeseburger in Paradise restaurant chain. Given the blog post’s date, we assumed most people would recognize that it was a prank — and although some did, a lot didn’t. Thing is, the folks at The Bluebird could have flown into a rage. They could have denied the claims and issued a statement of their own. But they didn’t. Instead, they played along, posting the article on their official Facebook page with the message, “See you on the East Side,” fueling speculation that the noted singer-songwriter mecca might relocate. So cheers to you, Bluebird, for being good sports. Way to not take yourselves too seriously.
