It’s no accident that public television has embraced Belmont University School of Music’s annual holiday show. That’s because the students and faculty of this fine institution are among the most gifted and versatile performing artists around. Last season’s show — filmed at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center — featured everything from a classically stylish rendition of Corelli’s Christmas Concerto to a folksy bluegrass account of “Christmas Is Near.” Students also performed country, jazz, pop-rock and Broadway-style holiday numbers with panache. Opera superstar Denyce Graves served as host and gave an unforgettable performance of “Ave Maria.”
