Led by its founder, conductor and baritone Shreyas Patel, the Portara Ensemble has had a remarkably busy and successful year. The group joined the Alias Chamber Ensemble in May to present the world-premiere performance of Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Paul Moravec’s Amorisms. A few weeks later, Portara joined Alias to perform more of Moravec’s music as part of the Nashville Ballet’s adventurous Emergence series. At both performances, Portara sang every syllable with nuance, sensitivity and a beautifully blended sound.
