It’s been a hot minute since Nashville has had a band arrive so fully formed and take off as quickly as grungy indie-poppers Bully — and rightfully so. Fronted by precocious powerhouse singer-guitarist and ace songwriter Alicia Bognanno, the already road-hitting band’s sweet pop melodies and dirty, ’90s-harkening, fuzzed-out riffs have caught the attention of taste-makers the likes of NME and Spin, along with Merge Records founder and Superchunk frontman Mac McCaughan, who attentively stood near the stage and rocked out to the quartet when they opened for his own band at Mercy Lounge back in April, two months before they similarly ignited a much larger crowd at Bonnaroo.
