Best Imported Theater

This internationally acclaimed production did not disappoint Nashville theatergoers, especially those many who may never have seen a work staged by living legend Brook. Can Themba’s unusual tale of infidelity in South Africa was intellectually satisfying, benefiting mightily from an incredibly assured cast featuring Jordan Barbour, Ivanno Jeremiah and the show’s striking lone female, Nonhlanhla Kheswa. The presence of three onstage musicians performing Franck Krawcyzk’s widely eclectic score further added to the show’s sophistication. Meanwhile, the OZ Arts Nashville performance space, arranged for this show as a three-sided black box, offered an intimacy rarely experienced at other local venues.
