Hendersonville native and two-time IndyCar series champion Josef Newgarden won the biggest race in American motorsports at this year’s Indy 500. That monumental achievement is enough to win our praise, but Newgarden amassed another three wins (the second-most in the series behind championship winner Alex Palou) en route to a fifth-place finish in the championship standings. Newgarden hasn’t finished worse than fifth in the season-end standings since joining Team Penske in 2017 — maybe next year he’ll finally pick up a win at the Music City Grand Prix?
