Vanderbilt University golf phenom Gordon Sargent has fit a career’s worth of accolades into the past 15 months. After closing out his first season in Nashville by becoming the first freshman NCAA champion in 15 years, Sargent has been on a tear. He became the first amateur to compete at the Masters in more than two decades, qualified for the U.S. Open and was selected for the USA’s Walker Cup team, all en route to being named the world’s best amateur for the 2023 season. The latter achievement earned him invites to two more majors in 2024, so it’s safe to say Sargent’s run is far from over.
