Nashville developer Tony Giarratana and the small but talented team working at the company that bears his name are known for innovative work. But with Alcove — a 34-floor apartment tower that opened earlier this year at 900 Church St. — Giarratana & Co. delivered the goods even more than they normally do. The building suggests a giant 3-year-old went crazy with her building blocks, yielding a Jenga-esque exterior form, and it commands — and demands — attention. Giarratana had the vision, and Chicago-based architect Goettsch Partners and AECOM Hunt (general contractor) of Indianapolis brought it to life. Success.
