In an epic showdown for the ages, Inter Miami CF came to Nashville on Aug. 19 for the inaugural Leagues Cup final, which pitted the best player in the MLS and Leo Messi against each other. Sure, Messi might be the GOAT, but he has nothing on Hany Mukhtar when it comes to MLS bona fides. The reigning league MVP and Golden Boot winner once again piled up the stats (23 goals, 11 assists in 2022, 14 and 8 so far in 2023 as of this writing) while leading Nashville SC to a fifth consecutive playoff bid. All that’s left for Mukhtar on the MLS bucket list? Lifting a trophy for Nashville.
More Best of Nashville wins: Hany Mukhtar also took Best Nashville SC Player in the Readers' Poll in 2026, 2025, 2023, 2022 and 2021.
