Thanks to a $136,000 grant from the TVA, the Tennessee State Parks system is improving its accessibility efforts and offering all-terrain wheelchairs for use at select parks, including three close to Nashville: Tims Ford State Park, Radnor Lake State Park and Henry Horton State Park. The motorized wheelchairs are offered free of charge, though advance reservations are recommended. Rangers will provide specific details on which trails are wheelchair-friendly. An expansion of the program to other parks is in the works.
